Song Saa Foundation

Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School are proud to be supporting a charity very close to their hearts, the Song Saa Foundation in Cambodia.

The Song Saa Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in 2013 to protect the habitats of the Koh Rong Archipelago and improve the welfare of its communities. The Foundation has launched a broad range of conservation and humanitarian initiatives including medical missions, education programmes and a wide array of marine conservation projects.

In their local community of Prek Sway, Song Saa Foundation has a long history of leading successful community engagement projects. These include building of the local school and ongoing support of the children’s education; the creation and management of the island’s first waste management centre; livelihood and farming capacity-building; and partnership with the local community fishery.

Susan Bingham, our Founder, visited Song Saa and their local community of Prek Sway in February 2019. Susan immediately felt an overwhelming heartfelt need to support the school and charity. Alongside Cavendish Bear, our Hopes and Dreams mascot, we are working together with the Foundation to make a difference to the children’s lives.

Education

One of the most important projects is the continual delivery of high-class education to over 250 children within the local community. The charity runs weekly workshops and activities from the Song Saa Sustainability Centre, with a broad curriculum ranging from climate change and marine conservation, to personal hygiene and English language – and everything in between!

Your contribution could support:

  • School supplies, to aid our educational outreach
  • School uniforms, for the local children
  • Workshops and activities, that we run with the local children

Who are the Song Saa Foundation?

Pack for a Purpose

The Song Saa Foundation is working with the schools of the Koh Rong Archipelago to help over 700 students receive the supplies they need for a quality education.

Due to the island’s remote location and the low-income levels of their families, many struggle to afford simple school supplies. Supplies provided by Pack for a Purpose travellers will make an immeasurable contribution to the learning capacity and academic well-being of the children of the Archipelago.

Boat of Hope

The Boat of Hope initiative was launched in 2013 and is Song Saa’s gateway into all five local communities in Koh Rong. Using a Foundation dedicated boat, they support over 500 households (c. 3000 people) across the archipelago with a range of workshops and activities. These range from healthcare and hygiene, to community clean-ups, to the provision of school supplies and drinking water filters.

Your contribution could support:

  • Medical supplies, to aid our healthcare outreach
  • School supplies, to aid our education outreach
  • Water filters, to provide safe drinking water

Following the Song Saa Foundation on their journey to improve the lives and wellbeing of impoverished communities in Cambodia, we are seeking contributions to support their projects. As valued parents, teachers and supporters of Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School, we hope that you might join us to make a significant difference to the lives of these inspirational rural villages. A small contribution can go a long way!
